The wildfires that roared through Montague County on Thursday killed former Channel 8 reporter Matt Quinn and his wife Cathy, according to a family member.
The fires swept through their rural property in the county, which is on the Oklahoma border northwest of Fort Worth.
Cathy Quinn's adult son, Chris, was being treated for burns this morning at Parkland Memorial Hospital. He was in fair condition.
Matt Quinn started at WFAA-TV (Channel 8) in 1980, after working for ABC News.
He hosted a popular regular segment called "Matt Quinn's Chronicles."
In 1988, Ed Bark, then the TV critic for The Dallas Morning News, called Quinn a "thoughtful reporter of mood pieces."
